Largest trade organization for the natural and organics industry

The Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA) is Canada’s largest national trade association dedicated to the natural and organic products industry.

Our members represent the entire supply chain including growers, manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and importers involved in a variety of industry sub-sectors such as vitamin and mineral supplements, herbal products, homeopathics, sports nutrition products, natural and organic foods, fibres and health and beauty aids.

CHFA member products support Canadians seeking optimal health and quality of life.

History

The Association’s roots trace back to Vancouver where it was founded in 1964 as the Canadian Health Food Dealers Association. At that time, a group of individuals interested in the natural health products industry joined together to give one another mutual support and to provide people with information and services to create better health through good nutrition.

In 1966 the organization was renamed the Canadian Health Food Association. Since then, scientific and public awareness of the natural health products industry has increased and the scope of the CHFA has broadened significantly.

CHFA promotes the views and interests of its members and provides leadership to its members by promoting natural health products, whole foods and organics as the primary source of well-being for all Canadians. 

Through advocacy, education, communications and promotional initiatives, the CHFA continues to reinforce its role as the voice of the natural products industry.
