We’re living in a world that seems to get faster by the moment. Where instant gratification has become the expectation. And immediate response has become the norm. A world that makes it difficult to take a moment for yourself, let alone shut down for a real vacation.
I am a life-long reader. A lover of books and storytelling. I will read anything, anytime. I’m not ashamed to admit that I have read more than my fair share of Harlequin romances and otherwise trashy novels. And it never fails to surprise me that, when I mention that I read while brushing my teeth, the person I’m conversing with finds that odd. I just think it’s an effective use of time.
Work-life balance is always a challenge. When your children are small, it’s all about time management: getting to daycare for pickup; managing time off work so you can be part of school field trips and activities; and fitting in trips to the store for supplies and clothes, which either disappear or are outgrown weekly. It seems like there are never enough hours in the day.
It is with great sadness that we notify you of the passing of Joel Taller on Saturday, May 13, 2017, with his family by his side. Joel will be dearly missed and affectionately remembered by his loving wife Gaye, their children, his extended family, and his friends and acquaintances, including many of us in the natural health industry who worked with him.
Every year when the holidays roll around, the spiral of pressure, celebration, excess and expectation begins. It’s a stressful time of year. There are deadlines to be met — both personal and professional. More things to buy, food to prepare, events to go to. Just more of everything. And each year, it seems to begin a little earlier.
