New CHFA Report Reveals Key Opportunities for Natural Health Products to Support Women’s Health Across Every Stage of Life

TORONTO, ONTARIO - The Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA) has released its latest consumer insights report, Women’s Health & NOW, uncovering how natural health products (NHPs) can play a greater role in supporting women through complex, interconnected health challenges, from perimenopause and menopause to mental health, anemia, and hormonal conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, and PMS.
November 25, 2025

Drawing on nationwide research, the report provides a comprehensive look at women’s health experiences, perceptions, and needs, highlighting significant opportunities for brands, retailers, and practitioners to develop more accessible, evidence-based wellness solutions.

“Women’s health is multifaceted and deeply interconnected—and this research shows just how much opportunity there is for the natural health industry to better support women’s well-being,” said Lynsey Walker, VP of Marketing and Communications at CHFA. “From trust and affordability to education and access, we now have clearer insight into where the gaps are and how our industry can make meaningful change.”

The research finds that while most Canadian women consider themselves in good health, many experience ongoing and often overlapping challenges, most commonly menopause, mental health concerns, anemia, skin conditions, and thyroid disorders. These vary across life stages, with younger women more affected by mental health issues and anemia, and women over 45 more likely to experience thyroid disorders, perimenopause, and osteoporosis.

Two-thirds of Canadian women currently use or have used NHPs, with vitamins leading the way. Yet cost, limited education, and only moderate trust in safety and effectiveness remain key barriers. Many also want clearer, evidence-based guidance from trusted health professionals. Among users, a group of “Wellness Superconsumers” stands out for their higher engagement, stronger trust, and more positive experiences with NHPs.

The report identifies significant opportunities for the natural health industry to address unmet needs through innovation, education, and collaboration. With women calling for affordable, accessible, and evidence-based products, supported by credible information and expert guidance, CHFA’s findings underscore a rising demand for solutions designed around women’s unique wellness journeys.
