Register for the CNPA Course

CHFA is pleased to offer the Certified Natural Products Advisor (CNPA) course. This is a comprehensive, distance-learning course that equips retail staff and sales representatives with credible knowledge to provide exceptional and informed customer service. CNPA was designed and written by the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, exclusively for CHFA. CHFA Members receive special pricing.

In its sixth edition, CNPA was designed and written by the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM), exclusively for CHFA. The course builds on a solid foundation in chemistry and biology, essential for professionals who are involved in discussions about health concerns. The curriculum is current and the most complete, science-based course of its kind in Canada for health food retailers.

Students who complete the CNPA course will learn the following topics:

  1. Applied health science: how the body works and how supplements affect it;
  2. Nutrition: how supplements work and how to compare nutritional properties of different foods;
  3. Communication: how to evaluate the risk of using natural products and a CNPA’s role in providing product information;
  4. Herbology: the study of herbs and recognizing their common uses.

Students have one year to complete this self-paced course. Upon completion of the course, both the student and the natural health products business they currently work for are eligible to use the CNPA designation.
